The aspiring chef
"I am not a glutton - I am an explorer of food"
My passion for food developed from the age of 12 . I first began in the kitchen as part of my chores at home. My mom had forced it upon me as a preparation to become a good wife in the future. I didn't enjoy it at first because I viewed it as a burden and duty that I was not ready to fulfill. I only saw the true beauty of food when I started to appreciate cooking for myself.
I've always been the type of person to constantly try new things. I never wanted to be bored. With cooking, there are endless possibilities of new dishes and flavor profiles. It's incredibly exciting to create something and constantly improve on it. Cooking is the perfect union between technical skills and creativity - It's a science and an art. It's simply beautiful.
The true beauty of food for me lies in the comfort and happiness it provides others. It is something to be shared and loved. My family always had dinners at home with each other. The love that my mom and I put into making the meals was appreciated by others in the family. Food had the power to bring us closer together. It warmed my heart to know that my food could touch others in that way.
My food is my voice. I use it to strive for betterment. I use it to show my appreciation of other cultures. And most importantly, I use it to express the love I have for my family and friends.
In the TastyBites section, I want to share my favorite recipes with everyone so that we can spread the love of food.
Happy cooking and eating!
P.S. I'm not one of those foodies who take photos of dishes. I get too excited and eat the food before I remember to take pictures...So the images are from the website I adapted the recipes from!
